Flying
There are two airports in the Whitsundays with regular flights.
Proserpine airport is most convenient for charters commencing from Airlie Beach. Virgin Australia has flights arriving and departing daily. Jetstar has frequent flights, but not daily. If you are flying from the southern states (Melbourne and Sydney) you do need to go via Brisbane with these two airlines. Tiger Airways offers direct flights from Sydney, although they also do not fly every day.
Proserpine airport is approximately a 40 minute drive to Airlie Beach and we can arrange a shuttle bus to transfer you. There are also taxis that meet all flights at the airport.
Hamilton Island has flights that arrive from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns daily. These are mainly all direct flights so tend to be quite convenient. Jetstar and Virgin Australia both service this airport with Qantas providing the Cairns flight.
If you are commencing your charter from Hamilton Island, it is a short drive from the airport to the marina and there is an island taxi available for this.
If you are commencing your charter from Airlie Beach, you can catch a ferry with Cruise Whitsundays across to the mainland. There are ferries that meet every flight and the ferry picks up from the airport pontoon and drops off at both Shute Harbour and Abel Point Marina. The cost for this is $48.00 per person each way.
Mackay airport may also be another option when looking into flights. Mackay is approximately a 1.5 hour drive to Airlie Beach so you would need to look at hiring a car. You can hire a car from Mackay airport and drop it off in Airlie Beach with Hertz or Avis.
